The following tests are provided so that users can quickly and consistently test development builds of the K-Meleon browser.
Save data before using the page - some of the test/checks can possibly crash Your system.
These test focus on the core functionality of the browser and its plugins to discover problems that will significantly affect the basic use of the browser.
Select a browser component from the list below and complete all of the associated tests.
Report any problems you experience with the test along with the browser build number and your operating system.
Find Dialog | Select CTRL-F. The Find dialog should display. |
Find in Page | In the Find dialog, enter a word that appears on the page and select "Find Next". The word on the page that matches the word in the dialog should be highlighted. |
View Source | Using the right mouse button, right-click on some static content. Select the "View Source" item. A new window should appear with the page source displayed. |
Exit Browser | Select File - Exit. The browser should be closed. Check in Task Manager to ensure that no K-Meleon processes are running. |
Scrollbar graphics | When this page has completed loading, the scrollbar and scroll arrows should be displayed on the right-hand side of the browser window. |
about:about | Enter about:about in the URL bar. Check each active URL (blue) shown there. About:cache-entry needs special parameters and does not work without. And about:bloat is also not tested. |
about:config | Browse to about:config to make sure that it can use type ahead find, has right click menu, can set and alter new parameters and values. |
Basic Plugin Detection | Enter about:plugins in the URL bar. A page should be displayed that lists all of the third-party plugins. |
Basic Plugin Support: QuickTime Player or... | Tune: dixie.mid. This legacy "embed" code will call any Netscape compatible music plugin Tests whether K-Meleon can (at least recognize and) use (music) plugins in plugins folder. If no music plugin is present and default plugin works: "Click here to get plugin" is shown. Else: If no plugin is visible the browser has no plugin, can not use plugins or uses Active x to play music. The code sets autoplay to "false". You may have to activate "Play". |
Sun Java Applet | K-Meleon should find and use an installed Sun Java Plugin anywhere on Your pc. This Imaginary Seascape opens a "_blank" window with an applet and calls "invisibly" for any MP3 supporting plugins (if installed). |
Windows Media Player | Tune: rebel.snafu. This standart compliant "object" code will play music when active x support and player is installed.
Else no Plugin is visible here. The code sets autoplay to "false". You may have to activate "Play". |
Save Page As | Check that the Dialogue has several options; Use twice, the option that was chosen on the first attempt must be offered as default on the second... |
Display Visited Links | Check whether Imaginary Seascape is shown with the visited link color. Go there and back with mouse gestures. Checks mouse and instant re_rendering if You use a K-Meleon for SeaMonkey. |
Print Dialog | Select File - Print. The print dialog box should display. |
Print Preview | Select File - Print Preview. The page should be rendered in the print preview mode. Ensure that all pages display properly. Select File - Print Preview again to return to the normal browser view. |
Page Setup | Select File - Page Setup. The Page Setup dialog box should appear. |
Javascript Console | Enter javascript: in the URL bar. The Javascript console should load in a separate window. |

Privacy Plugin | Make sure that all data are cleared. Check: Cache, Cookies, History, MRU List (visited URLS left?) and Passwords. |
History: Buffer Overflow! | CLICK HERE: but be aware that this can crash the browser. You may have to delete history.dat (or txt) by hand; If You are not able or have a problem to restart Your browser! |
Forms and Java Script | Press button; This tells You whether basic forms support is present and Java Script is activated/working. |
